Nine intertwined stories examine the complexities of the one emotion that connects us all: love. Among the characters explored are David (Hugh Grant), the handsome newly elected British prime minister who falls for a young junior staffer (Martine McCutcheon), Sarah (Laura Linney), a graphic designer whose devotion to her mentally ill brother complicates her love life, and Harry (Alan Rickman), a married man tempted by his attractive new secretary. A sugary tale overstuffed with too many stories. Still, the cast charms.

Rated 5/5 Stars •Rated 5 out of 5 stars11/14/21 Full Review L. N Possibly the most syrupy, written-on-the-back-of-a-beermat scripts in the history of cinema. Cringe-worthy dialogue delivered from some of the greatest actors of our time (and why they agreed to it is a mystery to me. Did they read the script before they signed up?). Why and how did Richard Curtis become a writer working for an audience that is the least discerning group possible? Contrived, saccharine, soft, simplistic and just plain painful. Makes Notting Hill look scalpel sharp by comparison. Rated 1.5/5 Stars •Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars07/26/24 Full Review Read all reviews

If 60% of reviews are positive, the movie is given a “Fresh” status, but if positive reviews fall below that benchmark, it is deemed “Rotten.” A popular piece of media will typically fall between the 70-90% range, but rarely, a project will receive a 100% score. This means every last review from critics was positive.
If the positive reviews make up 60% or more, the film is considered "fresh". If the positive reviews are less than 60%, the film is considered "rotten". An average score on a 0 to 10 scale is also calculated.
Tomatometer scores fall into 3 easy-to-understand categories: Fresh (60% and up), Rotten (59% and below), and Certified Fresh for films with more than 75% positive reviews that meet other criteria - see the criteria HERE.
As the reviews of a given film accumulate, the Rotten Tomatoes score measures the percentage that are more positive than negative, and assigns an overall fresh or rotten rating to the movie. Scores of over 60 percent are considered fresh, and scores of 59 percent and under are rotten.
Rotten Tomatoes awards the Certified Fresh™ accolade to films and TV programs that have a Tomatometer® of 75% or higher after a set number of reviews (80 for films in wide release, 40 for films in limited release, 20 for TV shows), including 5 reviews from Top Critics.
So when a movie such as “Black Panther” gets a certified “fresh” 97 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, we interpret it as a film that is near perfection, while a film such as last year's “The Emoji Movie” that lands around 9 percent, must be a steaming pile of garbage.
A 151-hour long experimental film by French director Gérard Courant. It is considered to be the longest film ever released. 9,000 minutes (150 hr / 6 days, 6 hours).
Other recent series with multiple seasons in the 100% club: The Good Place, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, One Day at a Time, Veep, Fleabag, Jane the Virgin, and Feel Good. Only Murders in the Building season 1 has the most reviews on its perfect 100% score.
Tomatometer scores fall into 3 easy-to-understand categories: Fresh (60% and up), Rotten (59% and below), and Certified Fresh for films with more than 75% positive reviews that meet other criteria - see the criteria HERE.
