What a week in Singapore!Looking back at a fantastic week in Singapore at the Singapore International Water Week (SIWW), discussing how we can make cities more climate resilient, and how we can better protect our coasts against the impacts climate change and sea level rise. But equally important: meeting old friends from around the world, and making new friends! Climate adaptation and water resilience in cities: we need to do more and better - and yes, we can! This was the powerful message of our communique, from our workshop at the Singapore International Water Week (SIWW). Led by lead by Tony Wong, our team inspired a professional capacity -plus crowd to deliver the key message to all urban leaders at the conference and worldwide, that we need more well planned, integrated, holistic, inclusive, nature based and financially and socially equitable urban climate resilience! I was proud to witness the kickstart, last week in Rotterdam, of the new Arcadis Global Climate Adaptation Team, energetically led with confidence and inspiration, by our new Global Director Roni Deitz, PE. Happy to see so many young, familiar faces, including several of my former "wing pilots"! It is time for the next generation to step up and battle the global impacts of climate change. Just turned 65 years old, the right moment for me to take a step back and give the floor to Roni as my successor. But I am not gone! In my new role as global advisor, I will now have more time to support Roni and Team, as well as our partners and clients, to come up with smarter, more sustainable, more resilient, more nature based and equitable climate adaptation solutions.

Leading by example for tomorrow's UN World Water Day's motto: "Water for Peace"!I am proud to read the stories of our brave former Arcadis colleague Nynke Schaap, who left us 2 years ago, when she decided to follow her passion: connecting her water expertise to bring relief & peace to regions and communities in need. First with Cordaid, in Iraq, South Sudan and Yemen, and now with PAX for peace in Iraq. One year after the UN Water Conference in NYC, and one day ahead of United Nations World Water Day, she is a role model for us all, bringing the "Water for Peace" motto to action. This water world needs more Nynkes!https://lnkd.in/duvJBHeV

Prepare for the unknown! https://lnkd.in/ef7a8EfP
